Mozilla Firefox 3 Scrolling Fix

Posted on 07 Sep 2009 by Stuart

Some users will notice that Firefox 3 has very "jittery" scrolling when viewing image-heavy websites. We have the fix!

Mozilla Firefox version 3 may have, for some users, a very annoying jittery scrolling of the vertical (up and down) scrollbar. Mozilla know about the problem, but as yet have still to issue a fix for the issue.

For those who have upgraded to Firefox 3, and are having problems scrolling up and down, the fix is pretty straight forward:

1) Go to My Computer
2) Double click on your main hard drive (usually C: )
3) Open Documents and Settings folder
4) Open your folder username
5) Open Application Data [This folder may be hidden, to show this folder, see step 5.1]
5.1) Click Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Show Hidden Files -> OK
6) Open folder Mozilla
7) Open folder Firefox, then Profiles, then the profile folder, and lastly open the chrome folder
8) Open userContent-example.css in Notepad
9) At the end of the file, paste the following:

body { background-attachment: scroll !important; }

10) Save the file as userContent.css
11) Restart Firefox
