Which Cat?

When it comes to networks there are different types of cables that you tend to find. Previously, the standard was called "CAT5", meaning "Category 5".

We realise that with changes in technology, internet speeds will get faster. That's why we only install CAT6 cabling which is 10 times faster than normal CAT5.

Don't get too excited though...

Just because the cables are capable of a whopping 1000Mbits per second, doesn't mean you'll be able to achieve this speed. The routers, switches, and firewalls that the connection goes through may only be capable of 100Mbits.

It's not all bad though! Now that you've got your hard-wired cables installed by Easy PC Scotland, you're ready for when the 1000Mbit technology comes in to the home! If you're a business user, your Local Area Network is already probably capable of this technology!
